The quest for better pictures begins!

Some of my early pictures were dire.  So after watching several U tube videos I had a bit of a eureka moment.  Many of the pros I'd watched on U Tube had used several sets of lights. I had a pair of photographic lights but the big guys were using loads of lights.  On a budget of nothing I thought how on earth am I going to create extra light to get better shots; then it came to me. Why not use the lights above my hob.  So I placed my light tent on a glass topped work top saver on my hob placed a photographic lamp either side of the tent & turned on the florescent tube. I also played with any setting I could adjust on the manual setting on my cheap point & shot camera.  I took so many pictures before I had one I was really happy with.  This was my first terrible picture of the gorgeous necklace that my mum had created.
It really didn't show the necklace off to it's best.  This is the new version
Key to this picture was carefully angling the stand so that the reflection in the shiny stand was of the necklace & not me & the other thing that was of key importance was the f stop setting within the manual settings.  Without altering this the picture was washed out as the camera automatically tried to "see" the black background.  I had to manually override this to artificially darken the background by setting the f stop much lower so that the camera "saw" the white necklace not the black background.  However it took me 100's of pictures before I produced this one that I like.  I guess what I am trying to say is don't be afraid to experiment.  That is the beauty of digital cameras it doesn't really matter how many pictures you take!

Just learning how to do this!

Hello craft lovers.  I'm hoping to create a really interesting site to inspire & encourage crafters but at the moment I'm just learning how to use this technology as it is all new to me!

Why not check out some of the things Mum & I have createdhttps://folksy.com/shops/CadeDesign
This necklace is one that I've chosen to show on here as people have liked it on Folksy so hope you do to.

I'm also hoping to create blogs on how to improve your photos (my early ones were truly awful & I want to share my journey with you as I find my way through the "dark arts of producing awsome shots!)
